Fashion Interview with Tessa from House of Wonderland

Hello Lovelies,

Hope everyone is enjoying February.  I’m excited that I will be rocking it this month with blogging three times a week.  I’ve decided to blog Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Mondays will be retro fashion history aka Decades of fashion,  Wednesday will be retro beauty tips and tricks, Fridays will be OOTD Fridays.  I will also be featuring small businesses that I love as well! I’m excited to share new content with you every week.

Next, I got to connect with the lovely and talented Tessa Shearer from the House of Wonderland via #TheGirlGang on Facebook.  I am so glad I found her and this group of amazing women to connect with.  Below is our fashion interview.  🙂

Why is fashion important to you?
Fashion is so important to me as it’s what got me started in my job the first place! I was always inspired by designers, singers, and other famous icons.  It made me work really hard to pursue a career in fashion.  My earliest memory is creating a pair of shoes made from paper! 😀 I drew around my foot, cut out a strip for the strap and scrunched up a bit of paper for the high heel! I think I looked completely daft but I was so proud of myself 😀

How does it make you feel?
One word… Freedom
Wear do you go to buy your clothes or which websites do you buy from?
I make some of my clothing as well as buying plain items from cheap stores(Me too!). I do however love investing in key designer pieces, but a big splurge like that only comes once or twice a year due to my poor bank funds(I hear that!) 😀
What is the most important thing you consider when you are shopping?
The thing I think about most is coordinating clothes! I hate to spend too long getting ready so I buy lots of plain black, white, and grey clothing so whatever I put on will match! *Style tip: Doing what Tessa does gives you a chance to show off your personality with your accessories whether it be a bold necklace, leggings, or other jewelry. It will help you stand out but not over do it! 😉
If you could only wear clothing from one particular decade which one would it be and why?
It has to be 1950’s! I adore the silhouettes, styles, and class!
What are your favorite accessories to wear, i.e brands, home made, local, Etsy etc.
House Of Wonderland jewellery(I love her vintage inspired pieces) of course! 😀 But I am a sucker for Tiffany & Co!  I love long simple necklaces although I also love rockabilly necklaces too!
Side note:  Below are my faves from HOW.

How does makeup play into how you dress?  What is your favorite makeup looks and where do you buy your makeup products?
I am so boring! I wear the same stuff every day! I usually wear foundation-liquid, powder, bronzer, blusher, 2-3 eyeshadows, eyeliner, eyebrows, eyeliner, and mascara! I love 1960’s eye make up though! I couldn’t go anywhere without my eyebrows though! Obsessed about eyebrows! I’m weird like that!
Please describe one of your favorite outfits and if possible the links to where you got the items and or descriptions.
Hmmm… My favourite outfit is one I got agggggggeeeeesss ago! I think the shop actually closed down now! But it’s a 3/4 length sleeve black top and a wrap around asymmetric black wiggle skirt? I’ll try and find a picture and enclose it 😀

Catching up with Jemma aka Dorkface! The Interview.

I got the chance to chat with the lovely Jemma: Dorkface from Twitter.  This is my first fashion interview and I am excited to share this with you all. 🙂  My goal when interviewing people is to figure out why people wear what they do and how it makes them feel! Without further ado, here is our interview.

Hi Jemma,
I’m starting a new blog that focuses on fashion, particularly retro fashion and the history behind what we wear in the current time. Here are some questions:
R: Why is fashion important to you?
J: A great outfit can instantly change my mood, and make me feel amazing. Plus being able to express myself through what I wear is pretty awesome 🙂
R: How do clothes make you feel?
J: It depends. If I find something flattering, in my style, I’m extremely happy! I feel as if my true self is being represented. However I also experience a lot of bad feelings often, as I can’t find anything which feel like ‘me’.
R: Where do you go to buy your clothes or which websites do you buy your clothes from?
J: All over! I like to collect clothing from anywhere and everywhere. At the moment I absolutely LOVE everything from Lazy Oaf, and ASOS is always brilliant.
R: What is the most important thing you consider when you are shopping?
J: Comfort, and being able to wear it more than once. If it does neither of these things, then it’s pointless. It sounds quite boring but honestly I’ve wasted so much money on crap in the past that I’m not entirely comfortable wearing, and I never wear them again.
R: I noticed on Twitter that you are rocking the Pink hair. How does this affect your clothing decisions?
J: I tend to avoid red now!! I love red, but I feel it clashes with the pink of my hair. But I’m now loving wearing matching clothes and accessories. Pink is one of my favourite colours and now that my hair is pink, I feel more confident wearing it too which is ace.
R: If you could only wear clothing from one particular decade which one would it be and why?
J: This one! I love everything modern, bright, holographic. 90’s throwbacks are also AMAZING as a lot of it appeals to my colourful, kawaii side. But yep I’d stay here to be honest.
R: What are your favorite accessories to wear i.e brands, home made, local, Etsy etc.
J: I love unique, one of a kind Etsy stores. I’m a huge supporter of small business and I always try to buy there first 🙂
R: How does makeup play into how you dress?  What is your favorite makeup looks and where do you buy your makeup products?
J: I love a bright lip, and a subtle but smokey eye. I do love anything super girly, bright, and kawaii. Lipsticks are one of my favourite makeup products, especially MAC. It feels like such a treat to wear them.
R: Please describe one of your favorite outfits and if possible the links to where you got the items and or descriptions.

J: At the moment it would be my very bright coloured dungarees-

These are only from Primark but I love them! Very ME. Unfortunately I can’t link them though!  *Check them out below, love the bright and fun floral pattern, ooh la la!*
